In addition to a quality camera (lenses, proper lightening, etc.) you’ll need a website. Your clients need to know you exist but more importantly, they’ll want to see samples of your work.

Whether you like to snap pictures of people or things – weddings, families, school children, models, pets, food and items for store flyers or photos to be used on websites, there is no shortage of need.

If you work with people or pets you must have a patient personality. Pets and children can be difficult to work with, whereas gas grills and fresh strawberries always smile when you tell them to! You must like what you do, or it will reflect poorly in your work.

The only real drawback is scheduling – you must be available on the blessed event. However there are many photo shoots you can schedule on your own time. You’ll have to hustle for the work though – simply building a website will not ensure customers. The upside is that you will be getting paid for a business that you truly enjoy!
